Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wasn’t shy about reveling in Conor McGregor’s loss to Dustin Poirier by doctor stoppage in Saturday night’s UFC 264 main event.

After Poirier won by TKO following McGregor’s match-ending leg injury in the first round, it was evident that Nurmagomedov was keeping tabs on the trilogy fight between his former opponents. Nurmagomedov, who submitted McGregor in October 2018 and Poirier a year later, took to Twitter to show his support for Poirier.

“Good always defeats evil,” Nurmagomedov wrote. “Very happy for @DustinPoirier I hope you will get the belt end of the year.”

With the win, Poirier is expected to face Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title that Nurmagomedov vacated earlier this year.

When Nurmagomedov took on McGregor at UFC 229, the “Eagle” lost the first round of his UFC career before prevailing in the fourth round via submission. After the match, Nurmagomedov vaulted over the octagon into the crowd and went after McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. The altercation led to a brawl between the two teams.

“He talked about my religion, he talked about my country, he talked about my father, and he broke [the] bus.” Nurmagomedov told reporters then, referring to an incident from months earlier in which McGregor threw a dolly at the Russian fighter’s bus.
